Description:

Discussion Questions:

• How can/should local planner integrate water features into their general plans?
• Is it time to require a water element for general plans – and what should it look like?
• Are all green building ordinances good for water?
• What’s your experience with water conservation offsets in new development? What are some of the promises and perils?
• What other types of incentives or regulations can state and federal agencies offer to encourage collaboration between water agencies and planning departments?
• In the past we have seen water and electric utilities team up on conservation programs to offset the cost of installing efficient fixtures or appliances. In light of the need to achieve more conservation, address GHG emissions and become more sustainable in our building design are we seeing any pre-construction measures or other programs that provide opportunities to save water and energy synergistically?
